NSW: Diver dies in Jervis Bay

SYDNEY, April 9 AAP - A German tourist died while deep sea diving off Jervis Bay on
the New South Wales south coast, police said today.

The woman's diving buddy noticed something was wrong when they reached a depth of 55m
off Point Perpendicular about 11am yesterday, a police spokesman said.

He activated her buoyancy device and released her weight belt, allowing her to surface quickly.

But attempts to resuscitate the woman failed.

The woman was an experienced diver who had dived to similar depths before, the spokesman said.

Police had taken several pieces of the woman's diving equipment for inspection and
would prepare a report for the coroner.
