Vic: Detectives charged over drug heist

MELBOURNE, Dec 5 AAP - Two detectives in Victoria Police's major drug investigation
division were today charged over a massive drug heist.

Detective Senior Constable David Miechel, 33, and Detective Sergeant Paul Noel Dale,
34, face a string of drug, theft, and assault charges following the alleged burglary of
a home in Dublin Street, East Oakleigh, on September 27 this year.

Miechel, 33, faces 16 charges including burgling the Dublin Street home, stealing a
large commercial quantity of drugs of dependence, assaulting police and intentionally
causing injury.

He was also charged with possessing and trafficking ecstasy, Ice amphetamine and LSD.

Dale, 34, was charged with conspiracy to commit burglary and theft and conspiracy to
traffic Ice and Ecstasy with Miechel and a third man, Terrence Hodson, between September
8 and 27 this year.

Hodson, 56, faces 17 charges including burgling the East Oakleigh home, trafficking
a large commercial quantity of drugs and the theft of a large commercial quantity of drugs.

The three men appeared briefly in the Melbourne Magistrates Court today.

They did not enter a plea, did not apply for bail and were remanded in custody to reappear
in the same court on March 19.
