WA: Carmen Lawrence co accused acquitted of lying =3

Eds note: EARLIER SUPRESSION ORDER RE GEOF PARRY HAS BEEN LIFTED

Tonights verdict throws into doubt the prosecution of Dr Lawrence, whose evidence to the
Marks royal commission about discussing the petition matched Mr Haldens.

DPP John McKechnie, QC, avoided being questioned after the verdict was handed down.

In a new twist, television journalist Geof (Geof) Parry could face contempt of court
charges after he this morning refused to answer five questions put to him by Mr McKechnie.

Judge Michael OSullivan ordered him to appear in court on Monday to explain why he would
not reveal who gave him details of the petition before it was tabled, and whether Dr Lawrences
staffer Bob Willoughby had mentioned Mr Haldens name in conversations regarding the matter.
