NSW: Dove of peace over Sydney brings in New Year
The international symbol of peace adorned Australia's famous landmark the Sydney HarbourBridge as almost a million revellers welcomed in the New Year along the foreshore.
A fireworks spectacular lasting about 15 minutes culminated in a poignant tributeto the victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks in America - a dove and olive branchflying high across the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Organisers say the dove, which morphed through the southern cross and Uluru, was alate addition because of the event which changed the international landscape irreversibly.
