QLD:Questions raised over flood fund
BRISBANE, April 27 AAP - Questions have been raised with Queensland's corruption watchdog
over an appeal set up to help flood victims west of Brisbane.
The Crime and Misconduct Commission (CMC) says it's assessing a complaint against the
Ipswich Flood Appeal.
A decision has not yet been made on whether the CMC will investigate the claims made,
and information on the allegations could not be released, a spokeswoman said.
But Ipswich Mayor Paul Pisasale said he's convinced the matter will be dismissed by
the CMC "very quickly".
He told AAP the complaint was a "total misuse of the CMC again by politically motivated
people close to election time".
He had no role in managing the community-run fund, he said.
Premier Anna Bligh said the matter represented a "serious allegation".
"But let's wait and see what the investigation shows, if anything," she told reporters
in Brisbane.
She said the funds were badly needed by the city's flood victims.
