WA: Police chase ends in crash with pursuit car

PERTH, April 11 AAP - Two Perth men have been charged after a car chase through two
suburbs which ended with a police car and the alleged offenders' car colliding.

Police started chasing the men after they allegedly failed to stop in Northbridge at
11.20pm (WDT) yesterday.

Police said the chase was called off briefly when the offenders' Holden veered onto
the wrong side of the road, but the car then slowed in a Mirrabooka street and the driver
jumped out while it was still moving.

It was then that a police car and the Holden crashed into each other, causing moderate
damage to the police car.

The driver, a 26-year-old man from Warwick, was caught and charged with reckless driving,
failing to stop, burglary and stealing.

There was also an outstanding return to prison warrant against the man.

An 18-year-old man from Mirrabooka, the passenger in the Holden, has been charged with
breach of bail.

Both will appear before the Perth Magistrates Court today.
